Old Twist was painted on the Farmington River at the beginning of fall, in September, on a section of the river I had never been to. A member of the CCPG showed it to me, and I just loved the quiet and seclusion this stretch of the river offered. Access to the park is from a shopping center, and if I hadn’t been shown the area, I would never have known it was there. Winding paths around a little lily pad pond give way to the bends and curves of the Farmington River. We found our way to the very end of the path and set up right along the water. I don’t often find myself on this side of the river, and I was captivated by the light filtering through the leaves this time of year, and how all that light was bouncing off the bark.
