I was drawn to the cheerful, wild character of these Black-Eyed Susans. Their bright faces and loose, dancing stems invited a loose, painterly approach. I wanted to capture the feeling of standing in a summer garden, surrounded by movement, warmth, and the imperfect beauty of flowers growing freely.
